Episode 84 – Stacey Copas – How to be Resilient

At the age of 12 years, Stacey Copas’s life changed forever. She dived into a swimming pool, hit the bottom and was unable to resurface. Holding her breath for as long as she could she eventually blacked out.

Her 10-year-old brother realised that something was seriously wrong and managed to pull her from the pool and raise the alarm.

In the hospital, she was told that she had broken her neck and drowned and that she wouldn’t walk again. A brutal reality that saw her labelled a quadriplegic and dependent on a wheelchair.

Stacey’s journey to discovering her new identity is an incredible one. She is a professional speaker, athlete, author of the book How To Be Resilient and teaches people about resilience. She’s the kind of woman who says yes and figures out the how along with the way.

Stacey is proof that no matter what happens to us, it doesn’t define who we are.
